The toys in this installation were collected from opportunity and charity shops both local and interstate. I was struck by the amount of work and imagination that has gone into some of these pieces, yet they can generally be purchased for a token fee. Many of us have had a homemade toy at some stage in childhood; many of us still have one lurking in a cupboard somewhere. Don’t abandon them, care for and cherish them. Homemade toys could well become a rarity in a world of mass production and technological advance.
